Question

I will be travelling with a small baby from Nairobi to Mombasa by road. To break the long journey for the little one, I am looking for...

...a low-budget but good value for money place to spend the night, about halfway Nairobi and Mombasa. Any suggestions? Please indicate the price level. Thanks!

Hi!! The best place i'd recommend along the way is Hunters Lodge. Its about 250 - 300km from nairobi. If not that, i'd recommend Voi, there are good lodges there, plus its a safe town security wise. Only problem is that When you get to voi, you will have done 3quarters of the trip.
Hallo,
Thanks for the inquiry. For the journey to be comfortable for the young one the fast stop over would be kiboko then you will have your dinner and over night at hunters inn lodge, accommodation is K.Shs 9,300.Then the next day after breakfast you will take a shuttle from kiboko to Mombasa town.Accommodation in Mombasa for budget class is at tiwi beach resort, it is near the ocean for easy viewing of the ocean while you are at the lodge.Accommodation on full board basis is at K.shs.10,500.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any additional information or assistance that you may require. Individual and discounted group rates also available on request.

Hi, I agree about Hunters as this is a nice place and named after the J.A. Hunter of rhino-potting notoriety. The lodge boasts an acacia-backed garden full of vervet monkeys on the banks of the dammed Kiboko (Hippo) River, with a tranquil birdlife haven over on the other side. You can spend a day relaxing . We can arrange you to be picked from Kiboko by a luxurious bus on its way to Mombasa- if you are not on selfdrive. We can still book for you Mombasa- either cottage or a hotel. cost for a hotel is from ksh 7, 500 to ksh 10,000.We will not charge the small kid.
Kindly contact us

Ngulia Safari Lodge will be most appropriate for you, its in a small town called Mtito Andei, once there you will see the sign board, its situated inside Tsavo West National Park managed by Kenya Wildlife Service so you will also have the opportunity of viewing wildlife as you drive to the Lodge.
hi,the best place to stop is at voi.there are many lodges i.e. hunters lodge, voi safari lodge.prices are from 1000shs to 10000shs.
Hi?

I would recommend Ngutuni Lodge (also referred to as "Mara Ndogo" by tour operators) in Tsavo East, the entrance is along the mombasa nairobi highway and you only drive 7Kms from the main road to the lodge. There are no park fees to be paid either. There is a waterhole which is frequently visited by willd animals which faces the restaurant and the rooms too. The waterhole is also well lit to allow you to view game at night from the comfort of your room.

The rates are Shs 6,000/= for a single on Full Board basis and if the young one is above 2 yrs old will have to pay Shs 2,300/= extra.

For a reservation do not hesitate to call us on 041-2222532, 2311755, 0725929555.

Stephen
hi the best place is the hunters louge in voi which is half the trip to mombasa.
the price is at 6500 on full board and onces in mombasa prices are from 9000-12500 depending on where you like most.

bon voyage.we are on 0723093089.
There is a Sikh temple at Makindu, just past hunters lodge. The accommodation is simple but very clean and well kept. It's much cheaper than any other place you'll get for the same quality and security. The food is free for travellers, but donations are very very welcome (PLEASE GIVE SOMETHING).
Otherwise, there is Tsavo Park Hotel in Voi town. Again, it is clean, cheap and cheerful. It has a restaurant and bar and well-kept rooms for a very reasonable price.
There are other more expensive options slightly farther from the main road, in case you wanted to enter Tsavo on either side of the road.
Just past Kibwezi is a very nice, reasonably priced tented camp called Umani Springs.
At Mtito Andei, which really is half way, you can turn off into either Tsavo East or West to get good accommodation. I would be a little hesitant to spend the night at a roadside "hotel" in Mtito. Its mainly a trucker town, and security is not so great.

Hope this helps!
I advise you stop in Tsavo whether East or West. This is midway to Mombasa. Hunters will be too close to Nairobi. I can check for you email me on
