Close to the cruise harbour there is las Ramblas ( broadway street from Barcelona ) , the old town and also the Barceloneta harbour with a department store, restaurants in order to eat fish and paella, 3 dimensions cinema IMAX and the Aquarium.

My suggestion would be to check in and afterwards without luggage, without passport ( please leave the passport in the safe of your room ) and with little money then you can visit las Ramblas and the old town taking the blue bus or the taxi.
In case you want to go further I would recomend you to visit Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and also the Casa Milà from Gaudí.

It's not clear enough to me, but it sounds like you are just leaving a ship and have a few hours before leaving for the airport?
In that case, where will your luggage be? If you can leave it in your ship, then you are off to go! Barcelona is not L.A., and in a 15min taxi ride you can be almost anywhere in town. So don't limit yourself to the port area only.
But if you don't have a place where to leave your luggage, then I'd not recomend at all to carry it with you during your touring. Take a cab to Estruc 36 and leave it at
Then you are free to visit around! You'll be walking distance from La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter, as well as Passeig de Gràcia where you can see the Gaudí buildings Casa Milà and Casa Batlló and go shopping. A short taxi or subway ride will take you to Sagrada Família (Park Güell is a longer taxi ride, and a waste of time by subway if you only have a few hours).
Plus if you are going to the airport by the airport bus, the stop is just one block from the left-luggage place! Or you can find plenty of taxis in the area: it takes about the same to get to the airport than it'd be from the port.
If anyway, you still prefer to stay in the port area, you can stay around the low end of la Rambla, maybe take the elevator to the top of the Columbus statue, visit the Palau Guell (not the Park, but the mansion owned by the same owner of the Park - also a great Gaudí site ), go to the Aquarium, shop in Maremagnum or have a bite in the Barceloneta area (either facing the Old Port or the beach).

I hope it helped. Please rate my answer!

Hello,
Just near the port, you have the Rambla, one of the main attractions of the city. You could walk along the Rambla and before arriving to Plaça Catalunya (Catalonia Square) if you turn left through Portaferrissa street, you´ll end in Plaça Nova, where the Cathedral is located.

Just behind the Cathedral, you´ll find some of the oldest streets of Barcelona as well as Plaça Sant Jaume, where the goverment of Catalonia and the City Council are located.

Then you can walk towards the Via Laietana and the Ribera quarter (AKA Born), where you can find some buildings of the XIVth century as well as Santa Maria del Mar.

From Santa Maria del Mar you can walk to the Pla de Palau, the old Marina and back to the port.

I hope it helps!!

Regards,

Anna
