I believe westfall meadows was named after my uncles family that lived in Yosmite around the turn of the last century. Need history info.
Country: United States
You could be right. Joel J. Westfall ran a butcher shop in old Yosemite Village (not far from the current chapel) from 1875 to about 1905. I believe he married a Chinese woman but I don't have all my references with me at the moment. He was born in Virginia 1819, came to Mariposa County in 1875. He grazed stock at Westfall Meadow (where he had a summer cabin) near current Bridalveil Creek Campground, and also in El Capitan Meadow in Yosemite Valley.
