Question

Doing research for a trip to New Zealand next year. Advice about trekking/hiking tours?

Location

Country: New Zealand

Answers

Best bet is a book called Adventure Guide to NZ :
Iv done a little research and found 3 great hikes. Number one: Routeburn Track (Bottom of the South Island) starting at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu, and finishing around Te Anau - is considered one of the best in the world to lonely planet. Tongariro Northern Circuit (Middle of the North Island) in the Tongariro National Park. Abel Tasman (Top of the South Island ).

Hope you enjoy your trip in beautiful New Zealand
Many of the track you can do by yourself. It really depends on your fitness whether you want to do day tramps or multi day tramps. Lake Waikaramoana has amazing walks and so is the Keppler Track in Te Anau and the Humpridge Track which is in very remote Southland.Don't forget the Milford Track.
Have a look at the Department of Conservation website for more information on all the tracks available.
