What are a few must experience in Amsterdam..restaurants and all?

City: Amsterdam

Province: Noord-Holland

Country: Netherlands

I will simply go for my Top 5 -

1. Bike tour around Schellingwoude
2. 7th floor in OBA (Openbare Bibliotheken Amsterdam)
3. The Begijnhof
4. Amsterdam Historisch Museum
5. IJscuypje ice-creams

More information about all of them read in my blog -
- 'de kop van jut' leidsekruisstraat, wonderful food, small but cosy
- 'de jaren' nieuwe doelenstraat, also cafe, noisy but if you like that it's ok
Heineken Experience is popular among young people.
Van Gogh Museum.
National Gallery, Rembrandt's nightwatch....
't Aepjen bar (). It's the oldest bar in Amsterdam. Ask the barman for their small explanation of the history. Try a few traditional dutch drinks here, such as Jenever (dutch gin) or various ages, Kornwijn (corn wine) and a plate of dutch borrelhapjes (drink snacks) such as bitterballen, kaas, and woorst.

The canal trip is a great way to see Amsterdam if you're just here for the weekend.

Take the free ferry from behind central station to the NDSM Werf and have lunch at Noorderlicht (. It's an arty cafe in a polytunnel, but it has great priced fresh food and a super view over Amsterdam from across the water.

If you're here for more than a couple of days, rent a bicycle and do a bike trip to Broek-in-waterland. A typical dutch village about 10km north of Amsterdam. Eat a pancake there for the real dutch experience!
