Capital city: Budapest

Country: Hungary

Answers

you can get around by tram 4 or 6, and tram 2. If you want taxi, use City Taxi, they are very correct, and you can pay also by card. Phone 2-111-111 calling local.
Depends on: The private taxis are expensive: so please use reliable taxi companies like: CityTaxi, Tele5taxi, Taxi4, Fötaxi, RadioTaxi, 6x6taxi, BudapestTaxi.
From the airport to the city hotels i offer the ZonaTaxi, this is the official company for the airport: they have zone-rate: to the Pest side city-center the price is 4800,- HUF. between the city-park (where you find Fine Arts museums at Heroes Square, Szechenyi thermal bath, ZooPark, Amusement/Fun Park).
If you prefer PublicTransportation you can buy 3days or 1week valid TouristsTicket at BKV cashiers (Budapest Transportation Company) or you can by the Budapest Card at TourInform offices.

and and or

NOTICE: DONT FORGET TO SIGN YOUR BP-CARD OR TICKET BECAUSE THOSE ARE VALID ONLY IF YOU VALIDATED/PERSONALIZED IT WITH YOUR SIGNATURE. THE BKV-CONTROLLERS ARE TRICKY AND HUNTING FOR LONELY OR HELPLESS/LOST TOURIST.
If you want to see the most visited places of the city and you like walking, it is enough to get to the Deák square and from that point you can walk to different famous places.
I think it better to buy a one day ticket on the public transport, it is not so expensive, it is not more than 2000HUF, and you can travel in all directions and all public transpor vehicles.
Public transport is very good, taxi drivers like to trick tourists. :)
Buy a Budapest card (for 3 days or 7 days) and You can use the trams, the buses for free and You can enter some museums for free. It's more cheeper than the taxi.
hi,taxis are relatively cheap but for sightseeing you'd rather take a 'hop-on-hop-off'bus or hire bicycle. I recommend you those two ways because during the day the traffic is quite heavy..
cheers,mihaly;)
no. yes. :)
yes they are, if you are not careful, they will rip you off!! only take the big companies and always call for a cab. they are fotaxi, citytaxi, 6x6 taxi and taxi 4. ask for english speaking driver.
however, using the public transport is easy, cheap and more fun
Public transportation is easy to get around with, in rushhour it can be very crowdedr. there are nightlines as well. never go for a privite taxi because sometimes they charge very big amounts. go for CITY taxi their cars are the cleanest and you can pay with credit card in most thir cars.
The price depends on the driver and company.
please do not take a taxi if you do not know the city, it is not very, but rather expensive compared to public transport, which can take you anywhere you like to get to. Use trams and underground in the city center and use taxi only if you want to get out of Budapest or to the outskirts. The city is easy to get around in general and you can get very good maps at the airport, at the train stations or even in book shops and tourist information offices around the downtown.
Taxi is very expensive to get around by. I'd rather recommend you public transport. Budapest card is a good idea ;-)
