Where is the best restaurant for paella? Should we go to Barceloneta?

City: Barcelona

Autonomous community: Catalonia

Country: Spain

Yes go to Barceloneta, but avoid touristic places. For instance:

Try el Rey de las gams 2 on Passeig Joan de Borbo ! :)
Go to Can Majo in Barceloneta. On the beach, an old, landmark in Barcelona renowned for it's paella.
Set Portes used to be considered the best paella in town, and it is still often visited by celebrities and local politicians. It's located right at the beginning of the Barceloneta district.

But lately Can Solé appears to have beaten the "old king of paella" and it's even chosen the best rice in town by the local version of Time Out. That one is harder to find, as it's in one of the alleys inside the Barceloneta district.

Another great place that I love is Kaiku. Doesn't look very fancy from outside (paper tablecloths and so on), but it's got amazing food! And it's got a great terrace with views to the Barceloneta beach.
