when you talk about a date in Nairobi, don't forget you are talking about being in the Kenya capital city. first you should have a budget and on how much you want to use. in Nairobi you can have a budget date and be exceptional and too you can choose the other way either depending on the weight in your pocket. however you can choose to go to either Nairobi National park en enjoy a green and nice scenery with vast wildlife to keep your day. on the other hand you can choose to go to the museum during the day ending with an evening in a jazz club or whichever you would love. in real sense when you talk about a date in Nairobi one have to know exactly your likes to be able to plan for you for its a city of its kind with every kind of life you would expect in the world. so its up-to you to make a choice and clarify what you need from your date

It is difficult to advise if i don't know your interest but below is some essential info about Nairobi.

Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The city and its surrounding area also forms the Nairobi Province. The name "Nairobi" comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nyirobi, which translates to "the place of cool waters". However, it is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun" and is surrounded by several expanding villa suburbs.
Founded in 1899 as a simple rail depot on the railway linking Mombasa to Uganda, the town quickly grew to become the capital of British East Africa in 1907 and eventually the capital of a free Kenyan republic in 1963, with a current estimated population of about 3 million
Nairobi is one of the most prominent cities in Africa politically and financially. Home to many companies and organisations, including the United Nations Environment Programme and the UN Office in Africa.

I would suggest a few of the following things to kill your 5 days:

Visit the Animal Orphanage and Giraffe Centre. You might go on a safari later, but there's little chance of getting the upclose interaction that you'll enjoy at these places.

Try to visit one of the tea plantations in the Limuru area. I'm sure a guide service in town can connect you with one of these - it's a very worthwhile outing to see some bits and pieces of the activities that went on in colonial Kenya.

Visit/tour Kibera or one of the other "informal settlements." It's a great chance to see how people work to make life liveable when conditions aren't great. Again, a tour service might be able to hook you up. If you're new to Africa, I wouldn't visit one of them on your own.

If you're into athletics, try to get out to Ngong to see some of the great Kenyan runners training. Most of them train upcountry in Eldoret an Nyahururu, but there are plenty - and many of the best - training at Ngong.

Shop. Take the time to visit some of the shops - you can pick up some really cool things and get some good prices if you're not in a big hurry.

Sleep. You'll want to be nice and rested for the safari!

Take the train to the coast - that'll kill one day.

Yours Sincerely,
