Hi Dude,

You can take the bus that goes to Javier Prado Avenue (In this avenue is located cruz del sur bus station).

If you can pay for a taxi is better, but the bus is ok.
The public transport is about 70 cent of dollar
You can take the JV bus lin that takes you to Javier Prado avenue where cruz del sur is located by paying only S/. 1.20 ($0.4) PLEASE DONT PAY MOREEEE!!! Haha you can also take a cab by they're gonna charge you a gazillion dollars because they just think that tourists come with money stick to all over their body. Anyway, to get to Lima downtown you can take a "combi" outside the airport paying the same but I just wouldn't recomend that. You can take that same JV bus to Petit Thoars avenue and then another one to Lima center.
First thing you need to know is WHICH ONE OF THE CRUZ DEL SUR STATIONS you need to go.

There's one downtown, on Paseo de la Republica.
And there's one on Javier Prado, to go to that one, you take the JV bus, they charge you like s/.1.50 from de airport. And you ask the driver to let you know where to get off the bus.

If you need to get to the other cruz del sur, downtown, i think the best thing for you to do is to take a taxi, because it's a not-very-safe zone, but you can do the same (take de Javier Prado Bus) and stop in Petit thoars. And there, take another bus that goes the whole avenue, and stop at the begining of it.
I think that if u do not really have any clue about how is lima like u should take taxy it's safer .. and yes there are bus but it's informal and if u have valuable things on your package and u do not really have spanish and not map of lima it's not the best to do and yes it's true u need to know which station where u go.
The best way is to get a official taxi inside the airport, please ask for a official taxi to airport staff, you wont spent more than 25 dollars. Safety first. After that Crus del Sur is ok..
hello¡ david , to go to the cruz del sur bus station (javier prado )you have to take a taxi it cost at about 20 to 25 soles; its going to be easier for you to go by taxi instead to take a bus.
A taxi is definitely safer if you have any luggage at all. If you want to save money, you might want to walk out of the airport and flag a taxi on the street. It should cost less than 30 soles to Javier Prado. Change a minimun of money in the airport itself as the rate there is ridiculous. An "official" taxi inside the airport will cost you twice that amount, and will charge you in dollars. Good luck.
I should add that if you arrive at night, you should definitely take the official taxi.
Like all the others said: dont even think about leaving the airport area by foot with your luggage in order to catch a bus on the road - that is the best recepy for getting asaulted and robbed - take a taxi. In case you return to Lima during your stay, have a day of time and are interested in either whlae and dolphin watching, birding, scuba diving or sea kayaking then check out for a great nature adventure close to the capital
David.
There are buses to almost everywhere in the city. But the service is not what you might expect. Are you arriving Lima airport with luggage? If so, local buses are not suitable for your needs. Take a cab and everything will run smooth and easy for few extra dollars.
hey sup? When u arrive to the lima airport, there are some taxis services that u can take to the cruz del sur bus station, is a bot expensive 'cause those companies are really important and secure, but you can also go out and take a normal taxi i might think that it will be S/.10 - S/.15($3-$6) dont pay more. If it is your first time in lima i dont recomend u to take a normal bus u might get lost but is ur decision, hope i could help u with this and if u want some more help email me:
see ya.

Hi David,
I think the best advice if you're arriving early/late in the day and have luggage is to get a taxi. The official airport cabs are safe, secure and expensive, you can get a regular cab by leaving the airport and flagging one down on the street.
If you need any further information about your trip, please just get in touch:
Hey David Fragley:

In order for your visit to be better, I'd recommend you to take the taxi. Buses aren't big or safe enough. It will be cheap, about 4 bucks, and you will get to the Cruz del Sur Bus Station very fast...
If you have any doubbts, please email me at

If you are just arriving Lima for first time, please take a taxi, contact it inside the airport. Lima has a caotic public transportation system. You must pay between 10 and 15 dollars, or you can contact to a shuttle, ask for it, it cost between 5 and 10 dollars, and they take you to the Cruz del Sur bus station. If you think that you can do, just leaving the airport you must take a bus to Ate, the line is, Ventanilla -Ate, tell the driver to advice at Cruz del Sur bus station you must pay 50 cent of dollar Good Luck.
I advice you to take a taxi. From the airport to Cruz del Sur, its price will be $10 in our currency: 30 soles. The taxis up here in Peru are cheaper than abroad. There are buses, but I don't recomend them, because that takes you a long time and it's not a safety trip. You can also rent a car: Should you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me: Best regards.
think about it, your fist time in Peru, straight from the airport to the bus station by bus? Just after leaving migration and custom offices, go and hire an official certified taxi form the airport to the bus station. is more expensive but more reilable...
You can take the bus that goes to Javier Prado Avenue
There a lot of buses, but if you came for first time and you have Suitcases, it`s inconvinient to travel in a bus. But if only have a rucksack, you can take any bus, the tour is approximately forty minutes and the cost of the ticket is 1.50 soles (about 0.5 dolar)
I think the best way for a tourist who is ALONE in Lima to get around is by bus, it's a complete chaos but it's much safer than taking a taxi specially if it's in the street, a taxi coils take you some other place, could rip you off, in the bus there are a lot of people that an help you In case you get lost. If you arrive during daylight you can go outside the airport and stay always with groups of people that way ou can be safe. And an official taxi could charge you up to $50, it happened to my grandma when he tried to get to pueblo libre from the airport.

i woulnd´t recommend the bus system...too much of a hassle..just relax and take a taxi for 45 soles (15 USD) and in 40 minutes you´ll be there. If peak hour, give it 1h10minutes....worst case scenario.
what you can do to safe money is to take one the taxis that just pass by the airport..i mean, since passing by is free, many taxis do that to try luck, instead of the ones that park in the airport, pay the airport´s parking fee, and charge much more...that could be an option..in this case you may end up paying 25 soles or so.
to find the cheap ones just leave the building, and the first available lane in front of you, is the one used by cheap taxis...
good luck!
Dear David

A taxi is the safer way to get the bus station , one is located in Javier Prado the other in Lima Centre,

Jose Antonio
Hey ya!!!

First off at what time your plane is landing.... second how much lugagge do you have>????

Good luck!!!
