To be a permanent resident, you have to fill in forms stating where you work, qualifications, income etc etc and then submit to ICA. once submitted, you have to wait a while to see if approved then you get your IC card. If you are not approved, you can re-apply.
It is a lengthy process but is worth it in the end as it
allows you to apply for more jobs and you feel more secure that you have 5 years legally to be here.
